The article will introduce models of teaching, and their effects on student learning. The different classifications that are used, what they cover, and how they work. Education is constantly changing and these changes are becoming more prevalent with time.
First of all, when it comes to teaching, there are a lot of different models. Some you may have heard about before and some may be new to you. This article goes over the different types of models of teaching and how they work in relation to one another.
There are a lot of different models of teaching. Some basic ones are direct instruction, lectures, Online learning, Game-based learning, Collaborative learning, cooperative learning, inquiry-based learning, Multimedia learning, Competency-based learning, Problem-Based learning, seminar, and project-based learning. Teaching models are methods of teaching or underlying philosophies that guide teaching methods.
Direct Instruction refers to a teaching model in which students are taught by telling them information, or by lecturing. This type of teaching is used to teach facts and skills students already know, rather than giving children new knowledge.
In this model, the teacher provides a multimedia presentation and after the presentation, the teacher will ask and answer questions with the class. The teacher provides some material to guide the learning of the student and usually leads the class. This model is used in a lot of high schools at the elementary level.
Teachers also provide independent practice for learning different objectives in the form of class activities and homework. In the end, the test is conducted to evaluate what the student has learned.
The lecture is a direct-instruction teaching method. The teacher lectures to students and provides instruction that is aimed at transmitting knowledge from one person to many. Teachers provide information in the form of facts, concepts, or examples.
It is a face-to-face interaction in which the teacher delivers a lecture. It is basically the teacher talking to students and reading the textbook or giving descriptions of lectures to students. Students are expected to listen, take notes, and memorize this information.
Online learning is a type of educational learning that uses a computer or the Internet to deliver teaching and learning. It involves the teacher or students playing games or activities which teach them, then students take their scratch paper and write on it what they remember. Which model teacher is online and the teaching is done by using real-time discussion, online tutorials, and demonstrations.
Using the online process is the most effective way to teach students. The computer can host and support an enormous amount of resources and multimedia, like videos of how to do things, virtual field trips, and interactive simulations.
Game-based learning is an online platform that allows students to learn using video games. This concept is widely used in elementary schools, middle schools, and some high schools. This model consists of the following:
Students play a game and use their strategies to complete a project. Students have to follow the rules of the game and complete a project. Students are able to use different tools and materials like video, audio, or tools for their presentation. Students play games for different topics, like algebra, vocabulary words, history, etc.
In which students work together in groups. Students have a common goal and they help each other to achieve it. Students spend time working on the same project and collaborate with one another to reach goals. Students are able to work individually and learn from each other to improve their skills.
Cooperative learning is a model of teaching where students work together to complete their learning goals and share the responsibility for their learning. This model is considered to be the most effective way of teaching students. In cooperative learning, the teacher provides information and students work together to solve problems.
Inquiry-based learning is a type of teaching model that allows the students to learn on their own, through the questioning process. This is a student-centered teaching method in which students are in charge of their own learning.
In which students engage in active inquiry with the teacher. It is said that the students are able to generate or perform ideas and are expected to be able to take social responsibility for them.
The teacher presents a puzzling problem to students and students are expected to solve it. Students are also able to communicate with the teacher for help, show their work, and receive feedback.
Multimedia learning is a process of teaching in which students can learn by doing. It is considered to be an interactive and dynamic environment in which students are able to ask questions, engage in activities, and practice skills.
The most common application of this is the use of multimedia software that enables the use of different kinds of media to create educational resources.
This is a student-centered teaching method that focuses on the learner’s prior knowledge, skills, and experience when planning his curriculum. This is a student-centered teaching method in which students are expected to research and play different roles in their learning process.
In which students solve problems independently, using their knowledge and experience. This is an inquiry-based method of teaching models in which teachers are able to create problems for their students to solve. Students have to know the content, techniques, and procedures and can use their own imagination.
In which students work on a particular topic, using their knowledge and experience. Problems are created for the students by teachers or in-class exercises. Students have to solve the problem based on their ideas and imagination.
This is a student-centered teaching method in which students learn by performing real tasks and projects, such as designing a product or solving a real-world problem. Students are expected to be able to engage in activities and solve problems without teacher guidance.
In which students learn by memorizing facts, definitions, and concepts. Students are able to use their memory to recall information and make a real-world connections.
In which students are expected to complete a project or seminar. Students are able to work independently and learn by carrying out different tasks that they have been assigned, with the guidance of the teachers. Students are able to learn by completing activities such as designing a product or creating a presentation.
My aim in which to discuss types of teaching models, because for all of us to learn, we should choose the best possible model of teaching. And this is a short discussion about it. I hope you find this article helpful and useful to your knowledge and understanding. I hope you will follow me.
